All presentations
were good, I enjoyed all the students teaching chapters 3, 9 and 10 in their
own way. Group 1 talked about chapter 3, Intercultural Communication. I liked
how they explain the different cultures and ways it can impact communicating
with one another and how they gave real life examples. Being from different
countries and knowing different languages can be a challenge in many ways. I
say it from personal experience. When I stayed living in Miami I had to adapt
to a new culture, language, education, and many other things. It was very difficult
for me to communicate with other classmates. It was frustrating to hear people conversing
and not understand what they were talking about or trying to tell me. With a
lot of practice and hard work, I learned how to read, write, and talk in
English. For kids it is way easier to learn a new language or understand a new
culture than an adult. Some people struggle more with those situations. Imagine
visiting a country you never been and having to adapt, especially to communicating
in a different language. For example, I have family members that came from
Venezuela and stayed living here. They had a hard time adapting, this country
is very different than their native one. In an overall group 1 did good
presenting their project and having real life examples of the topic.
Group 2
presented Chapter 9, Communicating in Groups. This was the group I was in; I
think we did a good job putting the whole presentation together. With teamwork
we got everything done quickly, everyone had a section the had to work out. Honestly,
every member in our group did the assignment like they were supposed to, and it
turned out pretty good. I really like my group and how everybody collaborated
to complete the presentation. Communication is key for a well-done project.
Since the beginning that we found out who were the members of our group, we
created a group chat to communicate information with one another. We meet for
the first time in the library to work on the project together and share ideas.
It went pretty well, and we started working on our presentation that day. It
was so useful seeing each other, we divided the sections that each member of
the group was going to present and what they were going to work on. In my
opinion I like meeting with my group in person rather than online or through
zoom. I feel like the information is well understood and if we have any
questions or doubts, we have each other to clarify them. Working in groups can
sometimes be a struggle, what I might like, another member might not and that
could cause conflict. Not everybody participates when they are working in
groups, and sometimes people do not make it fare for others. Some members might
do all the work while the other just put their name in the assignment and do
not collate at all. That is what I do not like about working in groups and
prefer to do it by myself. I hate when a few people are doing what they are
supposed to and other are doing absolutely nothing. We want a free and peaceful
environment to create a presentation and let ideas flow. Sometimes working in
groups can help a lot, if I hear ideas and opinions from other members of the
group it can help me think and elaborate new and better ideas. Members
participate in varies aspects to achieve the goal. Working all together and collaborating
can help finish the assignment or project faster and effectively. Dividing the
project equally with classmates can help each other have a better understanding
of the assignment. Working with other people can also make you more competitive
and creative. You can also get to know one another and even become friends by
the amount of time working together. Spending
time with one another can create a bond and it could make it better to work
together.
Group 3
talked about Group Leadership and Problem Solving in Chapter 10. They explained
how leadership is important in a group and if there is a problem how it can be
solved. A leader is the person that is in charge, it is the person that it is
making sure that everyone is doing what they are supposed to and completing
their task. A leader would give each member of the group a different task that they
would have to complete. They would be the person you ask for information, or
you just do not know what to do, they can help you. It makes everything run
smoothly when there is a leader in the group, they keep everything in order. They
can help manage conflict among members of the group, the person would find a
way to make it work. Not all groups necessarily need a leader, but things can
be done with more organization and order. But they would guide you through the
right path and help you if you need it. They are 6 steps to solve a problem; step
1, the group need to understand the problem that needs to be resolve. Step 2, each
member shares what they know about the problem so it can be analyzed, and they
can find out as much as possible about the topic. Step 3, the group will make a
list of solution criteria. Step 4, they should have several positive solutions
to choose from. Step 5, eliminate the solutions that you know would not work. Step
6, every member of the group agreeing to the solution, would that solution
bring success?
In
conclusion, I enjoyed watching my classmates teach the chapters and each of
them presenting it in their own way. It is unique how each person has something
different to say; my favorite part was when they gave real life examples, and I
could relate to them. I would want to see more pictures and graphs on the next
presentation.
Excellent blog post!!
